Leeds United news as details of 49ers Enterprises make-up emerges ahead of EFL process

Here are the latest evening Leeds United headlines on Tuesday, June 6.

49ers Enterprises takeover details 'passed over to EFL'

There is a growing belief that 49ers Enterprises proposed full takeover of Leeds United is progressing, amid a host of reports on Tuesday afternoon that Andrea Radrizzani is nearing an agreement to complete a sale of his majority steak of the club.

The Mail report that the deal values Leeds at around £170million and add that details of the deal have now been passed on to the EFL, who will now set about ensuring every member of the 49ers' investment group complies with their Owners and Directors test. The report claims there are more than 60 investors in all and that the Premier League is understood to have given their approval to the deal.

Another detail the Mail adds is that Angus Kinnear is likely to remain in his chief executive role where he will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the club, but will be supplemented by additional appointments.

Gnonto's chance to impress

Wilfried Gnonto will be striving to get his hands on international silverware this month after being called up to represent Italy in the Nations League finals. The Leeds United forward has been included in Roberto Mancini’s 23-man squad for the tournament, which will be hosted by the Netherlands.

Gnonto’s call-up comes after a difficult couple of months at Elland Road as Leeds were unable to secure their place in the Premier League for another season. Despite establishing himself as one of the brightest young talents in the competition over the winter months, Gnonto struggled to secure a place in Leeds’ starting XI under both Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce as the end of the season neared.

As such, he found himself being unable to make the desired impact as Leeds slid towards the relegation zone. Nevertheless, Mancini has kept faith with the 19-year-old, who will be looking to add to the 10 caps he has already earned for the senior national side.

Lee Bowyer opens up on Leeds United job exchanges and Radrizzani praise

Former Leeds United midfielder Lee Bowyer has confirmed that messages were 'exchanged' between him and his former club prior to the appointment of Sam Allardyce last month and said that he would 'love' to return to Elland Road one day.

As a player, Bowyer was a firm fans' favourite during a six-and-a-half-year spell in West Yorkshire and moved into management after hanging up his boots, with spells in charge at Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City and has spoken about Leeds' recent managerial switch and how close he came to an emotional return at the club.

"Without going into too much detail, there was a message or two exchanged and the decision from the club was to go with Big Sam because of experience," he told talkSPORT. "Obviously, unfortunately for the football club, that didn't work out. But going forward I like to think that we'd have a conversation at some stage and maybe try and put something together."
