Leeds United news amid talks with Brentford for Victor Orta replacement as Farke bolsters staff

Here are your morning Leeds United headlines on Wednesday, July 12.

Leeds in talks with Victor Orta replacement

According to Mail Online, Leeds United are in talks with Brentford technical director Lee Dykes about becoming their new sporting director.

Dykes has also attracted interest from Tottenham but appears to be the frontrunner to replace Victor Orta as the club's sporting director, after the Spaniard's departure earlier this year.

Dykes has been at Brentford since 2019 and has played a huge role in their recruitment and rise from the Championship to a top half Premier League side.

Daniel Farke bolsters coaching staff

Leeds United have announced the appointment of Ed Wootten as the club's new goalkeeping coach.

Wootten arrives from Norwich City, after working with the Canaries for eight years, and links back up with Daniel Farke at Elland Road.

Upon his departure, long serving Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul paid tribute to Wootten, as well as departing goalkeeper Michael McGovern.

He posted on Instagram: "Five memorable years spent with these two great people. Thanks for the memories Ed Wootton & @michaelmcgovern.12. Good luck for the future."

The German has not had long at all to work with his players, but we will see where his head is at and what his coaching style is like at this early juncture. It may only be a friendly with Manchester United, but this will still be a match Farke wants to win.
