Leeds United news amid Carlos Corberan relegation claim after West Brom stay

Here are your latest Leeds United morning headlines for Saturday, February 11.

Carlos Corberan would've been aware of adding relegation to his CV with Leeds United

West Brom legend Ally Robertson says Carlos Corberan would've been wary about having a relegation on his CV if he had joined Leeds United.

The former Leeds assistant and under-23 head coach was the early frontrunner to replace Jesse Marsch after the American was sacked on Monday. But Corberan dropped out of the running by penning a new long-term deal at the Hawthorns.

Corberan has lifted the Baggies from the relegation zone into the play-offs -winning 11 of his opening 14 league games at the helm. West Brom suffered a setback on Friday evening with a 2-0 defeat at Birmingham City, but Robertson insists that the risk of relegation would've played a huge role in Corberan's decision to stay in the West Midlands.

“My hope, having watched what he had done in just three months, was he would want to stay and get promotion”, Roberston wrote in his column for Express & Star.

“That would be a big thing for him and it appears he was thinking along similar lines. He could have gone to Leeds and got relegated, then it’s a big thing against his record.

“Whereas if he takes Albion to the Premier League, it’s a big old tick. The gaffer deserves so much praise. Ten weeks ago everybody thought we were getting relegated, now it’s all talk of promotion. It is great we have kept hold of him.

“We need everyone together for one big push to the playoffs, with the aim of getting ourselves back where we want to be.”

Leeds United's best and worst-case Premier League relegation battle scenarios this weekend

Leeds United are in the middle of a crucial run of Premier League games as they welcome Manchester United to Elland Road in the return fixture following their 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

Leeds and Man United shared the points on Wednesday night in the first of their back-to-back top-flight games this week. A stunning strike from Willy Gnonto inside the opening minute was followed by a Raphael Varane own goal early in the second-half to give the Whites a 2-0 lead over the Red Devils for the first time since 1974.

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho would hit back for Erik ten Hag's side, but co-caretaker manager Michael Skubala would have been mightily impressed with the level of performance he saw from his side.

Leeds United injury list and return dates as Luis Sinisterra among doubts for Man United clash

Leeds United have a sizable list of injury concerns heading into their second Premier League match with Manchester United this week. Following the 2-2 draw at Old Trafford, Leeds come up against Man United once again at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon. The Whites will be looking to end a winless streak that stretches back to November when they face Erik ten Hag's side.

Pascal Struijk and Luis Sinisterra were both forced off in the first-half of the draw with the Red Devils as Michael Skubala looks to get his head around a team selection that will be largely influenced by the various fitness concerns facing his team.

With that in mind, we have looked at the squad's current injury list ahead of Sunday's clash with Man United.
