Surgery was required for another member of Leeds United’s squad on Monday as Diego Llorente was missing from day two of training in Spain. The centre-back fractured his hand in Sunday’s session and required a minor procedure in Murcia on Monday.
The Spain international is expected back in training before the end of the camp and he should continue to play while his hand heals from the operation. It’s understood Llorente’s hand was tangled in a team-mate’s t-shirt or bib under tension and while he barely noticed the issue, it was head of medicine and performance Rob Price who pointed out a knuckle problem.
Price flew out of the Spanish training camp on Sunday night to be with the other man who was going under the knife. Patrick Bamford met the medical chief in Munich for his inguinal canal operation by Dr Ulrike Muschaweck.

That procedure is understood to have gone well and the striker will now rehabilitate in the UK before joining in with training later this month. Illan Meslier, Kristoffer Klaesson and Junior Firpo were the other absentees on Monday.
Firpo, who suffered a slight groin strain at Thorp Arch on Friday, is expected to arrive in Spain on Tuesday for training before Thursday’s clash with Elche.
