Leeds United loanee Ryan Edmondson is bidding to help Port Vale earn promotion after his Valiants side secured a place in the League Two play-off final against Mansfield Town. Heading into the second leg of the League Two play-off semi, Port Vale trailed Swindon Town 2-1 on aggregate. An eighth-minute goal from James Wilson saw Vale take the lead to level the scores on aggregate.
But neither side were able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the 90 minutes, meaning the game went to extra-time. A nervy 30 minutes ensued, with both Vale and Swindon unable to seize the initiative in the tie as penalties loomed large.
The shootout saw Edmondson miss Vale's third penalty, which could have seen his loan side staring down the barrel of a 3-1 deficit after team mate David Worrall missed the second.

However, Swindon's Harry McKirdy blazed over from the spot to hand Vale a reprieve.
And then in sudden death, with the final penalty in the shootout, Ellis Iandolo blazed over in similar fashion to McKirdy, meaning Edmondson and co will face Mansfield Town at Wembley for a place in League One next season.
During his time with the Valiants, Edmondson has scored three goals in 19 League One appearances for Port Vale.
However, his days at Elland Road could be numbered, with LeedsLive's Beren Cross addressing his future in a Q&A earlier this week.
