Leeds United linked with South American international forward as striker speculation continues

French outlet L'Equipe have reported that Leeds United have made a bid to sign Honduras international Alberth Elis from Portuguese side Boavista after he spent an impressive season on loan in Ligue 1. Elis was on a season-long loan with Bordeaux, scoring nine goals in just 20 games for the side who would eventually go on to be relegated.

He had previously been a standout striker in the MLS, where Jesse Marsch reportedly became aware of him, as he scored 24 goals in 62 games for Houston Dynamo.

The report from L'Equipe states that Leeds United have been in discussions for a bid for the player who joins the club this summer, but the French outfit are in need of selling after being relegated from the top flight.

Bordeaux are reportedly planning for between 16-18 departures from the club, and Elis is one of those who is likely to go as he is among the most valuable.

The report adds that he is expected to be sold’ and is already attracting interest’ from Leeds.

Bordeuax are reportedly set to trigger the clause to sign him for £6 million, before selling him on for a profit.
