Leeds United joined this afternoon's opponents Everton in sending a tribute message to the life of former Toffees player Christian Atsu who was found dead after going missing in the Turkey-Syrian earthquakes that occurred earlier this month.
The Ghanaian winger, who was mistakenly reported to have been found in the initial recovery efforts by his club, was discovered and confirmed to have passed away earlier this morning.
Atsu had scored a 97th-minute winner for his club Hatayspor in Turkey the day before the earthquake had struck and is believed to have cancelled a flight to go home to see his family just hours before the disaster happened.

The club held a minute's applause alongside Everton in the centre circle in remembrance to Atsu, who played 13 times for the Toffees and also made over 120 appearances for Newcastle after coming up through Chelsea's academy.
Atsu was also the star of the tournament at the 2015 African Cup of Nations, after being named as the Player of the Tournament, a member in the Team of the Tournament and won the Goal of the Tournament prize.
