“I’m excited to get back to Marsch” - Aaronson
New arrival Brenden Aaronson confesses he cannot wait to play under Jesse Marsch again. Leeds’ new arrival only spent six months under his fellow American’s tutelage at RB Salzburg but cannot speak highly enough about the impact he has had on his career.
The proof is in the pudding as Aaronson wasted no time in completing a £25million deal to reunite with Marsch. He told BBC Radio Leeds: "Of course, we are both American and it's amazing but we see each other on a coaches/player level. We're not closer than that which is good and I want to learn from him and do whatever I can to learn more from him because he's a fantastic coach.
"But other than that, it's just that he's a great coach. I think I played some of my best football under him and I'm excited to get back to him."
Marsch praise
Leeds players have “bought into” the positivity Marsch has instilled since arriving two months ago, according to talkSPORT pundit Natalie Sawyer. The American received praise during the run-in for his upbeat persona in interviews but fans feared it would not be enough to keep their club in the Premier League.
However, a dramatic final day saw Leeds survive against the odds and supporters are now relishing the prospect of what Marsch can do once he stamps his authority on the side. Sawyer claims the players she has spoken to have given the 48-year-old rave reviews.
“I spoke with a few people who I know in the Leeds camp, they didn’t even know that Brentford were down to nine men,” she said.
“The red card was so quickly issued, and Canos walked off, they had no idea. They thought they were down to ten, no idea it was nine, which I thought was quite interesting.
“They (the Leeds players) spoke very positively about Jesse Marsch. They said he’s the kind of manager who is in constant communication with them. They thought he had a positive influence. It’s in contrast to some of the comments you might have seen on social media.
“So, the players I have spoken to have bought into him. They do think he brought about a positive change. They did say they loved Bielsa, but felt he had run his course.”
Leeds worth £250m
Football financial expert Kieran Maguire values Leeds at around £250million after retaining their top-flight status. Rumours are circulating that the San Francisco 49ers - who own 44% of the club - are considering buying Andrea Radrizzani’s 56% majority stake to own Leeds outright.
Maguire used the £300million sale of Newcastle United last October as a guide when slapping a price tag on Leeds. He told Football Insider : “All Leeds fans will be delighted the club has maintained its Premier League position.
“If we use Newcastle as a benchmark, Leeds is probably not that far behind. I would expect upwards of £250m in terms of their valuation.
“It’s a one-club city and there is scope for future growth, certainly in terms of the stadium. The challenge for Leeds is breaking into the elite. That is becoming more and more expensive to achieve. You have to spend upfront before you get the return on that investment.”
