Leeds United headlines as Whites are reportedly set to offer youngster Mateo Joseph new contract

Here are your evening Leeds United headlines on Sunday, November 27.

Leeds United youngster Mateo Joseph in-line for new contract

Teenager Mateo Joseph is reportedly set to be offered a new contract by Leeds United.

The 19-year-old, who made his first team debut for the Whites in their recent Carabao Cup clash with Wolves, looks set to be handed an extension and a pay rise.

According to the Sun's Alan Nixon, Joseph, who has been in excellent form for Leeds U21s this term in the Premier League 2, will have his current deal extended to 2026.

Graeme Souness slams Leeds United star with 'ball-watcher' verdict

ITV Sport pundit Graeme Souness has slammed Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen after his poor performance against France in Denmark's second group stage match at this year's World Cup.

Kristensen hasn't enjoyed fantastic form at the tournament so far after being given a 'two' rating by Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet and didn't have his finest showing against the reigning world champions either.

The Leeds full-back was arguably at fault as he was the one marking Kylian Mbappe for his winning goal with just four minutes left in normal time.

"It was more of the same for the winning goal, ball-watching from Kristensen," said Souness.

"He's got to be more aware of what’s going on round about him."

Leeds United do not play another competitive fixture for more than four weeks when Manchester City visit Elland Road.

Prior to the enforced World Cup break, the Whites had found some semblance of form after a rough couple of months, with Jesse Marsch's side managing to pick up vital wins over Liverpool and Bournemouth.

While they did lose their final pre-World Cup game 4-3 to Tottenham Hotspur away, their attack still managed to produce plenty of chances against Spurs.

There's plenty of time between now and when Leeds next play a competitive fixture.

And with that in mind, LeedsLive's Beren Cross has taken a look at some of the issues Marsch and the Whites must resolve before their clash against Manchester City.
