Despite praising the pairing of Mateusz Klich and Rodrigo for their second half performance against Manchester United last Saturday, Marcelo Bielsa dropped both from the starting XI to face Tottenham on Saturday afternoon.
Diego Llorente and Robin Koch returned to the team, with Bielsa shuffling players around to what will likely look more like a 4-4-2 shape with Leeds man-marking against Antonio Conte's favoured 3-4-3.
Stuart Dallas may be in a central midfield position, or he could be taking up the position on the right of the midfield four, with Robin Koch and Adam Forshaw in midfield. This would have Raphinha and Daniel James as the strike pairing.
On social media, Leeds United fans have been reacting to the latest starting XI, with changes welcomed following the 6-0 loss to Liverpool in midweek, however many were surprised to see Rodrigo miss out.
Here are a selection of Tweets:
@raajest: "Rodrigo probably the only one with a bit of credit to his name in the recent games but of course gets dropped with James still up top. structure looks a bit more solid at least..."
@ThommHol: "More of a solid team, but why on earth does Joffy still not get a chance?'
@anyoldsport: "Finally he’s sorted the midfield out!"
@MellyMaestro: "I feel for Rodrigo, but I don’t mind this at all."
@andyg_photog: "More solid formation, what we need after all the goals we have shipped."
@KGlufc: "No Joffy again? Stop this madness."
@markdennett86: "I’d rather Rodrigo up front. But a much better selection."
