An artist and Leeds United fan has launched a raffle for a six foot statue of Billy Bremner to mark 50 years since the club won the FA Cup on May 6.
Tony Clark, who owns Clark Sculptures, previously commissioned a bronze statue of ex-Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa in 2020.
He raised nearly £10,000 for MIND, a mental health charity and a fan won the statue. He’s giving fans another opportunity to win another statue of a Leeds United legend while raising money for a good cause.
The money raised from this raffle, which will be drawn on July 4, will go towards Leeds food banks.
A fundraising page created for the raffle, reads: “This sculpture captures one of Leeds United's most iconic figures 'King Billy' celebrating after scoring against Wolves at Maine Road to put Leeds through to their second successive FA Cup Final 7th April 1973. This piece has been cast in resin and can be placed outside directly on the ground or indoors on the base.”
Tony plans to tour the sculpture around Elland Road a couple hours ahead of the Leeds United and Manchester City game on April 30
He has also created a limited edition of the Marcelo Bielsa & Billy Bremner sculptures for sale and a proportion from each sale goes towards 5 Yorkshire based charities. These can be found online at www.clarksculptures.com
