Leeds United are reportedly keen on Amad - a sign that Sunderland face serious competition if they try to bring the Manchester United forward back to Wearside. The Ivory Coast international was a huge hit last season during his loan spell with the Black Cats, ending the season as the club's 14-goal top scorer as Sunderland reached the play-offs in their first season back in the Championship.
Tony Mowbray would love to see the 20-year-old back at Sunderland next season, although that is seen as a long-shot - although a report this week did claim that if there are no first-team opportunities at Old Trafford then the player's preference would be for another loan move to Wearside. However, Leeds have apparently now entered the fray, with the Whites considering Amad as the man to spearhead their own promotion bid following relegation from the Premier League last season.
Leeds widemen Wifried Gnonto and Jack Harrison have both been linked with moves and that would leave the Yorkshire side looking for a replacement, with Amad a contender. With Premier League parachute money coming their way, Leeds could certainly afford a greater contribution towards Amad's wages than Sunderland could manage which may be a factor - if it comes to that - although the cross-Pennines rivalry between Leeds and Man U may hinder their chances.

Because first Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is expected to take Amad on the club's pre-season tour of the USA to see whether the man the Red Devils bought from Italian side Atalanta in a £35m deal in January 2021 is ready to play a part in next season's Premier League campaign. If ten Hag feels Amad would benefit from another year on loan, the feeling is that a season with a top flight club - either in England or in Europe - would be the logical next step.
However, Amad enjoyed his time at Sunderland and that means a return is not out of the question at this stage.
