Leeds United duo Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood named amongst favourites for Premier League award

Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood have been named amongst the bookies' favourites for next season’s PFA Young Player of the Year award. The pair broke through into the first-team picture at Elland Road last season and they look set to play a key role under Jesse Marsch moving forward.

Greenwood made seven appearances in the Premier League throughout the 2021-22 campaign with his first start in the win over Brentford on the final day. He’ll be keen to kick on next year alongside Gelhardt, who bagged two goals in 20 appearances after making his top flight debut in October.

Gelhardt has been shortlisted by the Golden Boy award, alongside the likes of Jude Bellingham, Jamal Musiala and Eduardo Camavinga following his first year in Leeds’ first-team ranks and the bookies are expecting the young forward to impress next season, it seems. Sky Bet currently has him at 18/1 to win the Young Player of the Year gong.

Greenwood, on the other hand, is further back at 50/1 alongside Luke Thomas at Leicester City. England international Bukayo Saka, who is still just 20-years of age is the clear favourite to win the award, with Sky Bet offering odds of 5/2 for the Arsenal man to win, while his teammate Gabriel Martinelli is 4/1.

Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise is 5/1, Emile Smith Rowe is at 7/1, while Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey is at 8/1.

England under-21 duo Anthony Gordon and Harvey Elliott are at 10/1 ahead of Wesley Fofana (12/1) and Callum Hudson-Odoi, Curtis Jones, Marc Guehi and Tariq Lamptey, who are all at 16/1.
