Leo Hjelde has left Leeds United to join Rotherham United on loan for the rest of the season. The 19-year-old saw his chances of any first-team minutes slashed by the arrival of left-sided defender Max Wober last week.
With the prospect of Premier League 2 minutes alone, Hjelde has taken the chance to play regularly with the Millers under Matt Taylor. Rotherham are fourth from bottom in the second tier and one point above the drop zone.
Hjelde has made five appearances for the first team since arriving from Celtic in the summer of 2021, including starts in the FA Cup and EFL Cup as well as two outings from the bench in the top flight. The Norway under-21 international has played as both a centre-back and left-back across the senior and under-21 sides for Leeds.
