Leeds United are reportedly set to be included in a pre-season tournament in the United States of America involving six Premier League teams, should they retain their top-flight status for next term.
The Athletic have reported that the Premier League is expected to announce a new pre-season tournament to take place in the US ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. It is thought that plans to carry out the idea in the summer of 2022 were scuppered by 'issues relating to the Covid-19 pandemic'.
But now the plans seem to be back in motion with Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Chelsea and Newcastle United all expected to be taking part. The report states that Leeds are also one of the teams in contention but that their place is still up in the air due to their ongoing battle with relegation.

Dubbed the 'Summer Series', the clubs will compete in string of matches in the eastern part of the US across a handful of cities taking place towards the end of July. Leeds are now facing a double whammy knowing that they are likely to not only receive a financial incentive from remaining in the Premier League, but also through their involvement in the pre-season tournament - contingent upon their survival.
Those hopes took somewhat of a dent in the 5-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday, but Javi Gracia's side are still two points clear of the relegation zone with eight games left to play. The Whites find themselves just six points from bottom and four points from 12th in what is shaping up to be one of the closest relegation battles in recent history.
