Eight new faces have been added to Leeds United’s squad this summer and despite the demands for more from the terraces, Jesse Marsch will see the real value in what has already been done in the window across the coming weeks. While a striker or a left-back may be on the radar in the right circumstances, Marsch is already delighted with the summer because of the speed with which targets came in during the close season.
Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Darko Gyabi, Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra all arrived before the pre-season tour to Australia. Meanwhile, Sonny Perkins and Joel Robles came in more than three weeks before deadline day.
Between, and including, Chelsea’s Elland Road visit on August 21 and the trip to Brentford on September 3 the Whites will have five matches to play. Assuming the EFL Cup match with Barnsley is played on August 24, that leaves only two clear days between matches before the three between Everton and Brentford.

Marsch is looking forward to using every corner of his squad and flexing the muscle he added with the new faces acquired during the transfer window. Leeds are finally going to see the full benefit of the strength in depth they added.
“First of all, clearly our focus is on this match (Southampton) and how important it is and staying in the moment is always really important,” said Marsch. “Even watching the draw last night (Wednesday) and knowing, in two weeks we have five matches in two weeks, we have to have a full roster squad available of guys that can be ready to perform at every moment.
“That will be important, so we purposely have tried to build more depth into our squad for moments like this. I always get excited when guys get opportunities because everyone here works really hard and everyone deserves chances and it's just about finding the right moment.”
