Leeds United and Jesse Marsch prospect excites Leicester City man as Jamie Vardy warning issued

Luke Thomas has claimed that Leicester City are excited by the challenge of being Jesse Marsch’s first Premier League opponents.

Leeds United travel to King Power Stadium on Saturday looking for a reaction in their first game since the departure of Marcelo Bielsa.

They face a Foxes side buoyant on the back of their 2-0 midweek win away at Burnley.

Like Leeds, Leicester have really struggled with injury problems this term and remain without the majority of their first-choice backline.

That has opened up the opportunity for players like Thomas to come into the team and he hasn’t looked back since with a potential England call-up even being rumoured for the youngster.

Speaking in the LCFC Matchday Magazine, he discussed the threat the Whites will pose with a new man in the technical area.

"There’s always a point to prove for a team who gets a new manager in," said the 20-year-old. "It can be a difficult one to approach as well because you don’t know if they will set up in the way they have been, or if the new manager will completely change things around.

"We’re excited by that challenge though, and we’ll be ready for whatever they put up against us."

Brendan Rodgers is likely to include Jamie Vardy in his starting XI for the first time since December 28 after he got a goal and an assist from the bench against Burnley on Tuesday night.

He immediately showed what his side had been missing in his absence and Thomas discussed what it’s like to have the former England striker back in the team.

"It’s great to have him back," he added. "We all know the quality that Vards has. He’s so clinical.

“If he gets a chance, you just know he’s going to take it. On Tuesday, seeing him coming onto the pitch with 20 minutes to go at 0-0 gave us all a boost.

"He made a difference on the night by scoring and assisting, so fingers crossed he can keep that form up and keep scoring goals."

Marsh will be hoping that his defence, which is likely to be missing Diego Llorente, will be able to contain Vardy if he is selected from the start on Saturday.
