Leeds set to host first ever international watch party for San Francisco 49ers

Leeds is set to play host to the first ever official international watch party for the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday 11 September, kick-off 6pm BST. The 49ers are set to kick off their 2022 National Football League season with a clash against the Chicago Bears.

The event is set to be hosted at BOX Sports Bar in downtown Leeds, with doors set to open at 4.30pm on a first come, first serve basis. Fans are encouraged to confirm their attendance on Facebook prior to the day of the event, and it is set to be free of charge.

This is a continuation of the relationship that Leeds United and San Francisco 49ers have built up in recent years, with 49ers Enterprises now owning a 44% stake in the club. Fans in attendance can expect to experience an authentic NFL game day atmosphere, which includes starting line-up announcements, chants, scoring songs and other exciting surprises for those in attendance.

Appearances are also set to be made by 49ers alumni and mascot Sourdough Sam, and at the end of each quarter, raffles featuring 49ers prizes and memorabilia will be conducted. Attendees can order food and beverages from a limited gameday menu while watching the 49ers on all venue TVs, providing an immersive game-watching experience.

Alex Chang, 49ers Chief Marketing Officer, discussed his excitement on the upcoming event. He said: “We have been itching to physically connect with the UK Faithful for months so the timing of this event is perfect.

“Our established U.K. fan base is a big reason why we petitioned the NFL for UK marketing rights. With our strong relationship with Leeds United, it made perfect sense to host this first international watch party in Leeds.”
