Leeds Rhinos 'target' lands new NRL deal as recruitment search continues

The speculation linking Wests Tigers star Luke Brooks to Leeds Rhinos has been put to bed after NRL club Manly Warringah Sea Eagles confirmed the signing of the half-back.

The 28-year-old has been intensely rumoured to be joining the Rhinos in Super League but has committed his prime years to the Sydney-based club, penning a four-year deal with the team that boasts Origin stars Daly Cherry-Evans and Tom Trbojevic.

The Sea Eagles have also signed winger Jaxson Paulo for three years from Sydney Roosters and Brooks' West Tigers teammate Tommy Talau for two years.

Brooks has played 202 first-grade games down under, scoring 43 tries since his NRL debut for Wests Tigers in 2013. His future coach Anthony Seibold is delighted to have captured the playmaker.

"Luke is a quality half-back, a former Dally M half-back of the year, and brings over 200 games of experience to our club. He has got a fantastic left foot kicking game and is a really good runner of the football. We feel as though he will add to the spine players we have already got at our club."

The move means Leeds' recruitment drive for 2024 has taken a new road. Rugby League Live understands French forward Mickael Goudemand will be a Rhino next season, Sam Walters' move to Wigan Warriors has been confirmed, with the futures of David Fusitu'a, Blake Austin, Aidan Sezer, James Bentley, Zane Tetevano and James Donaldson still unknown.
