Leeds Rhinos are set to sign Leigh Centurions youngster Luis Roberts. Rugby League Live understands the outside back, crowned the Championship young player of the year last season, will become the latest lower-league addition at Headingley next season.
Roberts, 20, started his career at Salford Red Devils, making his Super League debut in 2020. He subsequently made the move to Swinton where he was a standout star, averaging a try every other game despite the Lions eventually being relegated from the Championship. Despite that, he was crowned the competition's best young player and his performances earned him a move to hometown club Leigh Centurions ahead of their push for promotion.
He has struggled for game time in his maiden season at LSV, with the Centurions now one game away from promotion to Super League. He has spent time on loan at Widnes Vikings and could feature for Wales in the World Cup next month.

He will now continue his development under the watchful eye of Rohan Smith, who has actively targeted the lower leagues to bolster his squad for his first full season in charge. Batley Bulldogs fullback Luke Hooley, who will also feature in the Million Pound Game this weekend, is set to join the club, as is Doncaster teenager Leon Ruan, who was shortlisted for League 1's young player of the year.
Leeds have also signed Justin Sangare and James McDonnell from Toulouse and Wigan respectively while they are expected to confirm the capture of Castleford winger Derrell Olpherts shortly.
