Leeds Rhinos fans have been boosted after Harry Newman and Nene Macdonald were both pictured in training. Two centre duo have both been recovering from injuries ahead of the new season but are seemingly making progress after the Rhinos shared a picture of the pair on their social media channels.
Newman, who has endured a torrid run of injuries, is rehabbing from hamstring surgery that saw him miss both the Super League Grand Final and England's World Cup campaign. He is now almost four months into the process and is regarded as being "touch and go" for the Super League opener with Warrington Wolves in six weeks.
The same can be said of new arrival Macdonald, who is recovering from a quad tear suffered in Papua New Guinea's World Cup quarter-final defeat to England. He is set for a three-month recovery process, with its conclusion falling roughly in line with the start of the season. Macdonald has joined the Rhinos from the newly promoted Leigh Leopards for 2023.

In a positive development, the Rhinos shared a picture of the pair as the squad returned to action after the Christmas break. In a selection of photos, Jack Sinfield was also pictured after missing the Boxing Day game with a groin injury while new NRL recruit Sam Lisone could be seen in the background of another picture. Newman and Macdonald looked in good spirits as they trained together.
Leeds will next be in action when they take on Leigh on Saturday, January 21st, before further pre-season games with Bradford Bulls, Hull KR and Hunslet. They were defeated by Wakefield Trinity on Boxing Day.
