Leeds Rhinos linked with shock move for father and son duo

Shane Flanagan is being linked with a reported move to Leeds Rhinos - alongside his son Kyle. A report by Australian journalist The Mole claims the Rhinos have set their sights on Flanagan, who won the NRL Premiership with Cronulla Sharks.

Rugby League Live reported last week that Flanagan was not interested in the role and it's understood that is still the case. Flanagan, who was linked with the role last year, is currently acting on a consultancy basis at NRL side St George Illawarra Dragons and while he does want to return to coaching, it is down under, and not Super League, where his priorities lie.

However, The Mole claims Leeds are not only interested in Flanagan, but his son, Kyle. The 23-year-old halfback is currently at Canterbury Bulldogs and is contracted until the end of 2023, but it's reported that the Rhinos are keen on a double swoop regardless.

Flanagan has made 42 NRL appearances for Cronulla Sharks, Sydney Roosters and the Bulldogs so far during his career. The Rhinos currently have Blake Austin and Aidan Sezer in the halves, though Austin is off-contract at the end of the season.

Chief executive Gary Hetherington has arrived in Australia as he goes in pursuit of a new head coach to replace Richard Agar, who resigned last month.
