Leeds Rhinos are pursuing a Championship opportunity for youngster Oli Field. Rugby League Live understands that a number of clubs in the second tier have been offered the 20-year-old's services on a loan deal for the opening stages of the campaign.
Field, who is capable of playing both in the halves or at loose forward, featured in the pre-season games and caught the eye during a string of cameo appearances. Now, Rohan Smith is hoping to aid his development with a stint away from the club, a similar tale to last season.
He featured for both Cornwall and Oldham in League 1 last year, scoring two tries for the Roughyeds in the process. He also played five games for the reserve grade side last season. Previously, he has played for England at youth level in 2019.

The son of former Rhino Jamie, who played for the club between 1995 and 1997, Field was awarded a squad number in 2022 and occupies the number 32 jersey this season. It remains to be seen where he ends up with clubs considering their options.
A number of Super League clubs are currently offering some of their younger squad members out on loan deals but for many clubs in the Championship, they are currently happy to run with their existing players before injuries hit.
Leeds have a number of options available for the younger members of their squad when it comes to playing opportunities. They have a dual-registration partnership in place with Bradford Bulls, with Liam Tindall and James McDonnell helping them to an impressive victory over Toulouse Olympique on Saturday. There is also reserve grade and Academy fixtures which start shortly, meaning there are plenty of opportunities at various levels.
