Leeds restaurant loved by Emmerdale stars closes for refurbishment with new owners set to takeover

A Leeds restaurant popular with the Emmerdale cast has closed for refurbishment with new owners set to relaunch the venue.

The Reliance, in North Street, has often been a popular spot for some of the Emmerdale cast members. Last year, we reported Marlon Dingle actor Mark Charnock held a big party at the venue to celebrate his 25 years on Emmerdale.

The team at the Reliance announced they will be stepping away from the restaurant. Posting on Facebook, they said: “It is with very mixed emotions that we, Joss and Becs, announce that our combined 40 year long shift at The Reliance has come to an end.

“It’s been a privilege to work with and serve so many wonderful people over the years but the time has come to make space for other things in our lives. Thank you all for all your support.

“So a new chapter begins for the Reliance with new owners who you will hear from very shortly with their plans for the future. We’re not going far, you’ll still find us up @waywardwines so see you around."

On the Reliance’s website, it currently states the restaurant and bar is close for refurbishment and will reopen on Wednesday, February 22. Many customers have taken to social media to wish the departing team well.

Josie Brown wrote: “Thanks for some amazing food, drinks and memories over the years. Good luck in your new venture.” Toots Jackson added: “Thank you Joss and Becs for so many wonderful memories. The Reli has the most special place in so many hearts.

“Significant life decisions like this are always emotional. Lots of love for your exciting future. We all look forward to seeing you on the other side of the bar.”
