Locals have hit back after new research revealed that Brits think people from Leeds have the most unattractive accent in the UK.
2,000 UK adults aged between 18-55 were surveyed by Preply, a language learning app and learning platform, to ask which accent they found most attractive - and it wasn't good news for Yorkshire folk!
The aim of the survey was to uncover British attitudes to language learning, as well as cultural attitudes towards accents and dialects, however it's findings have sparked quite the debate.

London bagged the top spot with 17.89% of people agreeing it’s the most attractive accent in the UK, while Liverpool came in second with 10.24% followed by Newcastle at 10.19%.
However, coming in at the bottom of the deck was Leeds, with a measly 4.37% of people thinking their accent was somewhat attractive.
And while we weren't the only ones scraping the barrell - Birmingham came in at a close 5.86% and Bristol at 5.57%. Regarding regions, Yorkshire and Humber as a whole didn't come out smelling of roses, with 52.12% of those surveyed not finding the Yorkshire accent attractive at all.
But we aren't about to let some mere statistics get us down, we asked Leeds Live readers what they thought of the survey's results and of course in true Yorkshire spirit they thought it was a load of old codswallop! With many stating the Leeds accent is "The BEST accent hands down!!"
Michelle Ellen penned: "You have got to be kidding me?? I love the Leeds accent. I live about 30 miles south from Birmingham and I really detest that accent."
Des Flanagan agreed: "I’m Irish, and have the pleasure of going to Leeds every year, (Elland Road), I love the accent and the people, so nice, best in the UK", as did Alan Hearson who said: "What a crock. Lived in Leeds for a while, brilliant accent. So much so I married a Leeds lass."
Susan Mills responded: "I love my Yorkshire accent, Yorkshire born and bred and very proud!!", Karen Hall agreed: "I love our Leeds/Yorkshire accent!" while Clifford Stead argued: "I wonder why "Happy Valley" with its Yorkshire accents proved such a huge success across the whole country then? We rank very highly when it comes to call centre accents for friendliness too."
