Leeds has been named as one of the most dangerous places to drive in the UK
Leeds was named in the Top 10 list by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts. Leeds was placed in seventh on the list, just one behind Sheffield.
Leeds came just behind the South Yorkshire city with a population of 798,768 and 13,348 collisions between 2013-2020, or 126 per 100,000 members of the population. Other cities listed in the top 10 are first place Nottingham, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Bristol, Leicester, Manchester and Glasgow.

Nearby Sheffield, with a population of 575,400, had 8,384 collisions. This makes for 135 collisions per 100,000 members of the population.
Leeds was also named as the most dangerous place in the UK for bus accidents, with 47.
The survey also revealed the most dangerous times to drive. The five months with the most accidents, in order from most to least, are: November with 23,679, October with 21,272, January with 19,958, September with 19,940 and July with 19,936.
Friday, Thursday and Wednesday are the worst times for accidents with 5pm being the most dangerous time of day. This makes 5pm on a Friday in November the most dangerous time to drive.
However, 83% of crashes in the UK are only of slight severity and only 1% are fatal.
