A huge snow cloud looks to be covering Leeds for most of today (Thursday) according to the latest snow maps.
The Met Office snow maps show a huge snow cloud to cover most of Leeds on Thursday (March 9) - which will remain for most of the day. This comes as the city has woken up to snow as Yorkshire is set for over 12-hours of heavy snow throughout today and Friday.
Amber and yellow warnings for snow and ice are in place for wide areas of Leeds until 7am tomorrow, as 19 hours of 'disruption' due to heavy snowfall is forecast.

The latest snow maps issued from the Met Office show a white and grey snow cloud over most of Yorkshire from the early hours of Thursday leading until Friday.
Up to 4mm of snow could cover the region every hours, causing treacherous conditions as the wintry weather continues. The darker the grey cloud on the snow map means the more mm of snow - white means there will be 0.5mm or less, light grey means 0.5mm-4mm and dark grey means 4mm and more.
The snow cloud moves from the east to the west of the country as the day goes on, by the late afternoon the snow cloud appears to only be covering West and South Yorkshire, mainly Bradford, Huddersfield and Sheffield. At this time York and Leeds will start to see more sleet.

The Met Office forecast for Thursday says: "Cloudy with occasional rain across southern England, rain spreading north and turning to snow across a central swathe of the UK. Much of Scotland brighter, snow showers far north."
