A youth leader has described his horror at the moment he found a pair of machetes, as he played football with a group of youngsters in a Leeds park.
Life Experience, a group founded by Phil Pearce, helps reach out to young people to try to inform them about issues ranging from knife crime to county lines gangs. It was founded in 2015 after Mr Pearce finished a spell in prison and decided he wanted to help people.
The group were working alongside the Youth Association and were in the area to play a game of football with a group of young people when they came across the machetes on Monday, April 25. Describing the experience, Mr Pearce said: “We were engaging with a group of young people in a park and we were just up at my car where I was changing my trainers to go play football with them and they started shouting us over.
