Leeds Festival: Two teen girls 'spiked with drug-filled needles' as one suffers seizure

Two teenage girls believe they were "spiked" with drug-filled needles at Leeds Festival over the weekend.

One of the girls, who are both aged 17 and unknown to each other, suffered seizures in her mum's car after being picked up from the festival.

The parent drove 70 miles to collect her daughter after she was told she had been spiked, with police now investigating the incident.

It was reported to have happened on Saturday with the victim feeling a sharp, throbbing pain in her thigh while she was in the packed crowd waiting for an act to come on stage.

She says she turned around and saw a man withdraw a syringe before disappearing into the large crowd, LeedsLive reports.

Soon after spotting him, the teenager began to feel dizzy and she was taken to the medical tent by her friends.

She claims she was told to "sleep it off" so called her mum to pick her up.

On the way home, she started having a seizure and her mum rushed her to hospital.

She is now recovering at home but says she is worried the needle could have been infected or dirty and still doesn't know what she was spiked with.

Just an hour later, in a separate incident, another victim reported being injected with an unknown substance and was also taken to hospital.

West Yorkshire Police are investigating the incident (PA)

West Yorkshire Police confirmed they received reports of spiking and are investigating.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police are investigating after two 17-year-old girls reported being victims of possible needle spiking at Leeds Festival.

"Both girls received medical attention on site after they reported feeling unwell in separate incidents on Saturday. Crimes have been recorded for both reports and enquiries are ongoing."

The incident follows the death of a 16-year-old boy who is thought to have taken MDMA. He was taken ill on Saturday night at around 10.15pm and died the next day in hospital.

Leeds Festival organisers have been contacted for comment.
