The wait is almost over for the return of Leeds Festival, which is due to kick-off this coming Friday. Tens of thousands of festival-goers will descend on the Bramham Park site to enjoy the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Dave and Megan Thee Stallion.
Among them, a great number of first-timers and festival veterans are due to make themselves at home at the various campsites. The specific campsite does not have to be selected upon booking, meaning it’s best to prepare for finding the best spot upon arrival in advance.
The general rule of thumb is that the closer to the arena you are, the livelier the campsite. This guide should hopefully help choose where you should pitch your tent this weekend.
Yellow campsite
The yellow campsite is the one closest to the arena’s entrance, allowing those staying to easily nip back for a drink or two between acts. Its location is also convenient for people not wanting to traipse around or with walking difficulties.
It is based near the silent disco if you’re after a party into the early hours of the morning.
Red campsite
Red campsite is without doubt a firm favourite of Leeds Festival regulars. Located near Relentless, it is known for having somewhat of a neighbourhood-esque atmosphere.
Its lively nature comes with superb nightlife and provides more space than most. Incredible views can also be found from Red Hill.
Orange campsite
Another of the more popular campsites is orange, again largely down to it housing late night parties. Sleeping will undoubtedly be at a premium here, not helped by being right next to both the Relentless and Piccadilly stages.
Purple campsite
Right next to orange camp is the purple site. However, despite some of the noise travelling through the campsite border, this is a much more peaceful environment, offering a more chilled experience.
Blue campsite
Compared to some of the more hardcore sites, blue camp is fairly moderate. It is in a prime location for most things, with food, showers, toilets and the arena all nearby, and is similar to the yellow campsite with regards to its sociable feel.
Brown campsite
This is one of the quieter spots, with the campsite being better suited to families and those staying in campervans. That being said, there is a late night disco that can be enjoyed here.
Green campsite
Another campsite more suited to those keen on receiving their eight hours of sleep is the green camp. This is a more ideal site for the younger age groups.
#NoLeedsOnADeadPlanet campsite
A brand new campsite has been introduced for Leeds Festival 2022. The #NoLeedsOnADeadPlanet campsite will be the festival’s first eco camp, hosted by Music Declares Emergency.
It will be a sectioned-off part of yellow campsite for this year, with the aim being to leave the field as it was found. Targeted at like-minded individuals who want to make a difference, the campsite requires pre-registration for guests to sign up to a set of principles, as found here.
