If there’s one thing politicians and postmen have in common, it’s fingers that bear the scars of many a dog bite through the letterbox.
It’s a grim experience with which new Leeds Labour councillor Izaak Wilson is only too familiar.
“I love dogs but they are the biggest risk on the doorstep,” Councillor Wilson, 29, smiles over a coffee, three weeks after being elected for the first time. “It’s not the people, it’s the dogs! I feel sorry for posties. I’ve had my fingers bitten a few times. It serves me right for putting too many leaflets through the doors I guess!”
