Leeds Dock residents fuming as they're 'kept up all night by loud screeching noise'

Some residents at Leeds Dock have been complaining about a constant loud noise. Residents in the dock area of the city, specifically Clarence Dock, say that the noise keeps them up at night.

LeedsLive spoke to one resident who said she finds it hard to sleep at night due to all the noise. Alison (name changed upon request) said the noises have started in the past few days and just won't stop.

She said: "It's constant, it's annoying, it's like a screeching all around the docks, it happens now and then but is still going on and it's starting to affect my sleep.

"I think it's a factory or something nearby, there is just a constant industrial noise going on and it's getting too much, I know other residents have heard it too, we shouldn't be paying as much as we are to live by the canal in peace to then deal with so much noise."

Another resident who often notices the noise during their commute to work, has also noted the noise. They said: "I don't find it to be too loud myself but it is annoying, eventually it almost becomes white noise like if you live next to a motorway.

"I think the council are not aware of the noise but a few of us residents have began to notice it."

Leeds City Council say they have had no official complaints about the noise so far but have urged residents to report any disturbances through the Council's online portal.

A spokesperson for Leeds City Council said: "The council takes any reports of anti-social noise seriously and would urge any residents experiencing noise which is impacting their lives online via: www.leeds.gov.uk/antisocial-behaviour-and-crime "

We also asked the council what could be causing the noise, as residents believe it is a factory nearby, they are continuing with their enquiries at this time.
