A Leeds café was given a one star hygiene rating after multiple issues were found and were told to install hand washing facilities.
Ethiopian Organic Coffee in Sheepscar, near Leeds city centre, was given the second lowest rating possible. This means "major improvements" were necessary.
Inspectors visited the Cypress Point café on October 15, 2022, and gave them a list of improvements they had to make.

The café owners were told to replace wooden chopping boards, which would "split and cause bacteria to harbour in cracks" and needed to ensure they had hand wash facilities in food preparation area and food serving area.
Raw food items bacon and chicken were found uncovered stored with ready-to-eat foods - risking cross-contamination. There was also no working food probe.
Walls needed to be made smooth and "washable" and needed cleaning. There was damage to the ceiling tiles.
They were told to put in place a food safety management system for all food processes: cooking, cooling, storage, allergens, cross-contamination and personal hygiene
Temperature records needed monitoring and recording. There was no allergen ingredients list for wrapped items.
Ethiopian Organic Coffee was asked for a comment.
