Leeds brewery Nomadic Beers announces closure leaving customers 'heartbroken'

Popular Leeds brewery Nomadic Beers has confirmed it is closing after five years.

The brewery became popular for having its own bar and shop in Sheepscar House, as well as travelling around the country to serve beer at popular festivals and special events. A number of Leeds bars are also known for stocking Nomadic Beers.

Craft beer lovers couldn't get enough of the spot and have been left "saddened" after it was confirmed on Thursday morning that the spot will no longer be open. Like many hospitality businesses, Nomadic Beers battled the Covid-19 pandemic and now increasing bills and costs of stock due to the rising cost of living in the UK.

Sadly these set backs have left the brewery with no choice but to close for good. Katie, who runs Nomadic Beers, shared an update on social media to confirm the closure and said she has "some sad news from us".

Katie said: "Unfortunately, I don't bring you good news. Last Friday we closed the doors to Nomadic Beers. After two tough years of COVID racking up debts, and the increasing costs of everything from utilities to ingredients, the brewery cannot continue to run.

"We've had a great five and a half years. Ross and I are so grateful to everyone who supported us from the beginning. Not only were we able to move into a bigger property which allowed us to open a taproom and expand our community, it also allowed us to include Harriet, Lars, and Ben, as part of our team.

The brewery's taproom was popular with Leeds residents (Nomadic Beers)

"We're all devastated that Nomadic Beers can't continue. A huge shout out to the people who have helped us along the way, whether it was buying our beer for your pub or event, volunteering your time, popping in the taproom, or supporting our Crowdfunder.

"The whole team is proud of what we achieved and we wouldn't have been able to do it without you. Most of us are staying in the brewing or hospitality trade, so please do say hello is you see us.

"And please support your local pubs and brewery taprooms. It's going to be a tough time for a lot of businesses. Your one pint might not feel a lot but if several people pop to their local it could make a huge difference."
