Leeds Bradford Airport announces record number of destinations and new jobs

Leeds Bradford Airport has announced it will be flying to a record 80 destinations in 2023 and 2024.

And LBA is to launch a recruitment drive as it adds several new cities to its roster. They include Bergen, Norway; Perpignan, France; and Porto, Portugal.

LBA has said it will be retaining some of the Eastern European destinations it acquired last year including Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, Romania and Katowice, Poland. This followed the announced closure of Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA) in June. The final passenger flight landed at DSA on November 4.

LBA has said it will improve facilities in the terminal. This includes an 'extensive redevelopment' of Hall A which serves all airlines except for Jet2 which is based at the airport.

A spokesperson for the airport said: "The check-in hall, which services all airlines apart from Jet2, is being configured to optimise space and operate with self-service kiosk capabilities. As part of this development, Hall A will be given a new Scandinavian-inspired design, with modern lighting and wooden screening.

LBA says it will be upgrading shops as well as food and drink outlets at the terminal this winter. Further shops, outlets and lounges are set for an upgrade before Summer 2023.

Airport HR director Lindsay Beresford said: "As we head into a peak summer period with more destinations than we have ever seen before we are looking for strong local talent to join our team that supports our ambitions to be a leading airport, connecting Yorkshire to the world. We’d love to hear from you and are currently receiving applications through our website for multiple roles across the business."

LBA commercial and strategy director John Cunliffe said: "With the broadest range of destinations ever, we know that the coming years will be fantastic for LBA passengers. Whether it’s holidaymakers returning to their favourite beaches, travelling to see distant family or adventures to new countries, there is something for everybody.

"We’re incredibly proud of the work being done to make travelling through LBA the best experience possible, and we look forward to welcoming passengers old and new in 2023 and beyond."
