Leeds will head into the final weekend in the bottom three and needing favours from elsewhere as Everton confirmed their Premier League survival.
Leeds were the only side facing the drop who didn't play on Thursday night as Burnley and Everton both attempted to take advantage of their games in hand. The Whites grabbed a stoppage time equaliser on Sunday against Brighton which had lifted them out of the relegation zone.
They were forced to watch on as Everton came from 2-0 down at Goodison Park to beat Crystal Palace 3-2, sparking wild celebrations on Merseyside. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored a late winner which saw the home fans invade the pitch to celebrate.
Burnley meanwhile left Villa Park with what could be a vital point in their battle to beat the drop. Ashley Barnes scored a first-half penalty to put them 1-0 up before Emi Buendia equalised for Steven Gerrard's side. Nick Pope made several huge saves to ensure his team lifted themselves out of the bottom three.
The Clarets, who are aiming to prove that sacking Sean Dyche was the right call, will enjoy home advantage on Sunday. They welcome Newcastle, who are led by former manager Eddie Howe. The Magpies have won five of their last seven but have nothing to play for on the final day.
Leeds travel south to the capital. The Whites will take on Brentford, a side whom they battle with for promotion from the Championship back in 2020.
Who needs what on the final day?
Everton have kept up their record of playing in every Premier League season. Lampard can begin planning for a top flight campaign at Goodison Park. Burnley will prepare for Sunday with a slender advantage over Leeds following their stalemate.
The job for them is simple - better Leeds' result. The Whites can ill afford to lose, or their two year spell back in the Premier League will be over. If they draw they need Burnley to get beaten at Turf Moor due to the fact their goal difference is far poorer than the Clarets. A win for Burnley will ensure they remain a top flight team, regardless of whether Leeds can win at Brentford or not.
