Lee Mack's 1% club viewers recognise studio from iconic game show

Lee Mack's brand new ITV quiz show aired on Saturday night, with members of the public invited to discover if they are in The 1% Club.

The Southport comedian hosts as episodes start with 100 contestants who must battle it out against each other to win a £100,000 cash prize. The 1% Club features people of all ages and with varying degrees of general knowledge.

To win the cash prize, contestants must answer a question only 1% of the population would guess correctly. Each contestant starts with £1,000 but, if they answer any question incorrectly, they are out of the game and their £1,000 goes straight into the prize pot for everyone to get the chance of winning.

Each time contestants flunk their answers the prize money swells. As the questions get harder and contestant numbers dwindle, host Lee breaks the tension with his quick-fire wit, teasing the contestants as their brains do somersaults in the battle to make it to the end of the show and a shot at the prize pot.

Just minutes into the programme's first episode, eagle-eyed viewers thought they recognised its studio. It had a similar layout to an iconic ITV game show.

The 1% Club studio looked very similar to that of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (ITV)

Taking to Twitter, turntheboxon said: "Have they used the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire studio?". Carly B said: "That's the Who wants to be a Millionaire studio isn't it?!"

Gillian Hudson said: "It's Who wants to be a millionaire, but without the winner becoming a millionaire!". MissLionHeart said: "Who Wants to be a Millionaire, kinda #The1PercentClub"
