Lee Johnson in 'aggressive' Hibs demand as he provides assessment on breathtaking Rangers clash

Hibs manager Lee Johnson says a dramatic second half against Rangers was sparked by his side's foot forward approach to proceedings.

The Hibees boss made a double substitution at 0-0 with Paul Hanlon and Ewan Henderson coming off for Christian Doidge and Matija Cabraja, the Premiership match eventually finishing 2-2. James Tavernier put his side ahead and Tom Lawrence did so again after Martin Boyle had briefly restored parity.

John Lundstram and Alfredo Morelos were then sent off for Rangers and it set the scene for Josh Campbell to net a 93rd minute leveller. Johnson says Hibs aren't the finished article yet, as he weighed in on whether the dismissals and Tavernier's penalty were fair calls or not: “I want to deliver to these fans high-tempo, front-foot, aggressive football.

"We did that in the second half but we need a complete performance for 90 minutes, which I haven’t seen yet.

“I don’t think it was a penalty for Gers but we should have had one. And I also don’t think Lundstram’s was a red card. The elbow (from Morelos) is probably red.

"By playing on the front-foot and being aggressive, we created the chaos that led to the incidents in the game. I’m not happy because there’s more to do. I’m here to drive it, not sugar-coat it.”
