Lee Johnson fumes at Hibs hammering as he offers players no excuses for dismal Celtic display

Furious Hibs boss Lee Johnson has called elements of his side's performance 'horrendous' in the 6-1 mauling against Celtic.

The Easter Road side were picked apart by a rampant home team in Glasgow as Johnson was given plenty food for thought on his players. James Forrest netted a hat-trick, with Giorgos Giakoumakis notching a brace and Daizen Maeda finishing off an impressive rout. For Hibs, it was a painful afternoon as Elie Youan's goal proved little sympathy for their manager, who says some looks in the mirror are needed ahead of hosting St Johnstone next Friday.

He said on Sportsound: "The standard that we set out to play, we were nowhere near. We have to be humble in defeat, Celtic were very, very good, but we made horrendous errors for all the goals. However much running you put in, however much effort, if you can't defend properly and if you make individual errors like we did, you're going to come unstuck.

"We cannot accept that standard mentally. We have to take lessons from games like this. Whether that's myself in terms of the way that we recruit, the psychology in which we recruit.

"But also players to step into these games and not show the fear that we showed in the first half. The individual errors for the goals is probably the hardest thing to take as a manager on the day.

"But moving forward, we can't accept anything like that again."
