Newcastle can still take advantage against Leicester despite the Foxes' good record after trips abroad. We know that Leicester have not shown signs of fatigue when they've played in Europe. They have a massive game against PSV Eindhoven in the Europa Conference League and win, lose or draw I think they will have spent the week focused on the Dutch giants.
Their minds will have been over in Holland and then there is the travel aspect to think about to. I think they will go all out to win against PSV and won't worry too much about Sunday.
In the past rounds that will have been different because you are in a group scenario. And they will have had one eye on their Premier League fixtures with the results showing, not least the 4-0 win against Newcastle just 48 hours after City played against Napoli in Italy.
But I think the win or bust nature of Leicester's game against PSV might just drain them a bit. Especially as Eddie loves to get on the front foot and Leicester may have physical issues with their game tonight. Let's hope that plays into our hands.
Wolves win was nothing to be sniffed at
The performance was very important overall, the first half was a little bit cagey aside from the move that we all hoped had led to Chris Wood's goal at the Leazes End. OK, it was disallowed but it was a great move involving Miguel Almiron, Bruno and Wood.
I thought the team looked very solid though and when you are going in on the back of a 5-1 defeat against Tottenham, to be solid and win 1-0 on a night like that was vital. Eddie Howe would have been very pleased especially given Martin Dubravka had to wait about 45-50 minutes before touching the ball with his hands.
Eddie and his staff would have been delighted with that to see them resolute and defensively so strong. I was quite pleased and in the second half, again not a lot of chances but your striker wins the penalty and then steps up and converts it.
The one criticism of Wood has been that he hasn't scored enough but he bravely stood up and took it. To win the game 1-0 like that and go 10 points clear of the drop zone with a clean sheet is very important at this stage of the season.
When you are a manager a performance like Wolves really pleases you, coming off the back of a disappointing game at Spurs like they did. Keeping a clean sheet after a heavy defeat, looking at it from a managerial point of view I think Eddie would have been absolutely delighted.
Good to see the back of that soft underbelly
In the past Newcastle have been incapable of holding on to leads and that even includes this season. But Newcastle for me never looked likely to throw it away against Wolves.
There were no late jitters instead we just saw good structure and good organisation. We looked defensively very solid.
In the past that has been a very big problem. They'd take the lead in some games and drop back and couldn't handle it.
Thankfully that hasn't been a trait under Eddie Howe we don't drop back. We stay on the front-foot and when we do need to defend we look solid enough.
When I left the stadium on Friday night I was thinking people may look at this at 1-0 and think it wasn't a great game. And it wasn't a great spectacle.
But going into the game against a Wolves side who have won at Man United, Spurs and Aston Villa no less, we made them look very ordinary. So full marks to the players and staff.
