LeBron James rips into Dillon Brooks with brutal tweet as NBA Championship dream remains alive

LeBron James has fired a tweet directed at Dillon Brooks after his Los Angeles Lakers eliminated the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Lakers closed out the series on Friday night with a 4-2 win to upset the number two seed Grizzlies in the opening round of the Play-Offs and advance to a Western Conference semi-final with either Golden State or Sacramento.

The Grizzlies had been talking confidently all season, with Brooks in particular saying he wanted to face the Lakers in round one with them being an easy opponent, and that he would like to eliminate James' team. Once the first round encounter was underway Brooks refused to back down, famously saying he was happy to 'poke the bear'

Fellow star Ja Morant also stated that the Grizzlies did not fear any team in the Western Conference but it was Brooks comments that made the headlines. In Game Two, Brooks proceeded to call James “old” and tried to get into the legend’s head by taunting him during that particular game.

:"I don't care, he's old. You know what I mean? I was expecting him to do that game four, game five. He wanted to say something when I got my fourth foul, he should've been saying that earlier on. I poke bears, I don’t respect no one until they come and give me 40. I pride myself on what I do."

Brooks was ejected during the following game after hitting James in the groin, and refused to speak to the media afterwards.

In Games Six, Brooks attempted to get in James' head as he continuously trash-talked the 38-year-old, but James' team would go onto to dominate proceedings - winning by 40 points and bringing an end to the Grizzlies season.

And on Twitter on Saturday, James tweeted Jay-Z quotes, which seem to indicate a message to Brooks.

He tweeted: "Unlike you little ****, I'm a grown ass man. Big shoes to fill, grown ass pants. Prolly hustled with your pops, go ask your parents. It's apparent you're staring at a legend. Who put a few little **** in they place before. Trying to eat without saying they grace before!".

James and the Lakers will now turn their attentions to the next round, where they could face Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors will face the Sacramento Kings in a game seven on Sunday night to determine the winner of the series.
