Sunday was another frustrating night for the Los Angeles Lakers. They lost another down-to-the-wire game, this time to the Philadelphia 76ers.
The contest was hard fought throughout, and LeBron James played brilliantly. He scored 35 points on 15-of-23 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and 10 assists.
But in the end, the ball wasn’t in his hands. Instead, Russell Westbrook took the final shot, which was blocked by Sixers forward Georges Niang.
Still, James notched another statistical milestone, becoming only the second NBA player and first non-center to reach 38,000 career points.

He trails legendary Lakers big man Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who has 38,387 points, on the all-time scoring list.
James has been playing some remarkable basketball since the start of December, putting up 31.6 points on 53.4% shooting during that span. If he maintains anything close to that type of pace, he will surpass Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record by the end of February.
