Every summer, NBA fans eagerly await the release of the latest version of NBA 2K, the highly popular video game. But fans don’t just await its release so they can play it.
They also wait to see what overall rating their favorite players will receive in the game. While it isn’t always a completely accurate reflection of a player’s ability, it is some measure of it, at least in the eyes of the game’s designers.
On Wednesday, the ratings for some of the best players in the league in NBA 2K24 were released. The game’s designers gave Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James a 96 rating.

That gives him the second-highest rating of any player, and he is tied with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry at 96. Only Nikola Jokic of the world champion Denver Nuggets has a higher rating than James.
The four-time MVP put up averages of 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists this past season despite turning 38 and dealing with foot ailments for a good portion of the year.
