Even at age 38, LeBron James stands as one of the best players in the NBA today.
The Lakers star, playing in his 21st NBA season, is one of only 10 players in league history to compete in 20 or more seasons. With longevity as his superpower, the four-time NBA champion continues to capture milestones and appreciate the iconic moments of his professional basketball career.
Although the Lakers (1-2) suffered a 132-127 road loss to the Kings on Sunday night, it marked 20 years to the date of James’s NBA debut in Sacramento. The official NBA account on X (formerly known as Twitter) posted side-by-side photos of the four-time MVP throwing down windmill dunks—one from his first NBA game and one from Sunday’s game.
Coincidentally, photographer Rocky Widner captured both images, and James’s action in the photos was eerily similar.

James registered a double-double in the loss, registering 27 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists in 39 minutes at Golden 1 Center. Twenty years earlier, James recorded 25 points, nine assists, four steals and six rebounds in 42 minutes in his NBA debut at old Arco Arena.
Los Angeles will seek to bounce back Monday night at home against the Magic (2-0) at 10:30 p.m. ET.
