The Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis is still arguably the best in the NBA, but where they rank individually is an even more contentious debate.
A recent ranking of the league’s top players by ESPN had both in its top 10, albeit at the end of that range — James was No. 9 and Davis was right behind at No. 10.
On Wednesday, The Ringer came out with its own list of the top 100 NBA players, and this one wasn’t as generous to the Lakers’ tandem. On this ranking, James was No. 12, and Davis came in slightly higher at No. 11 (h/t Lakers Daily).
The Top 25 players in the NBA according to @ringer:
1. Nikola Jokic
2. Giannis Antetokounmpo
3. Stephen Curry
4. Luka Doncic
5. Jayson Tatum
6. Joel Embiid
7. Kevin Durant
8. Jimmy Butler
9. Devin Booker
10. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
11. Anthony Davis
12. LeBron James…— NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) October 18, 2023
One could make a strong argument that both James and Davis should rank ahead of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Devin Booker and Jimmy Butler, at the very least.
At the same time, rising star Austin Reaves gained a good deal of respect from the same list, as he came in at No. 60.
