Schools across Lebanon are set to reopen next Monday, following the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah. The country's education minister announced this development, stating that most public schools had been serving as shelters for displaced individuals during the conflict. In fact, a United Nations official revealed that 75% of Lebanon's public schools had been repurposed as shelters, with over 1.3 million people displaced during the prolonged fighting.
With those who sought refuge now returning to their homes, schools can begin assessing their conditions and preparing to resume educational activities starting next week. Lebanon's Minister of Education and Higher Education highlighted that many schools will require repairs to fully restore their educational capabilities.
