Lebanon’s caretaker prime minister Najib Mikati expressed optimism for a potential Hezbollah-Israel ceasefire to be reached in the coming hours or days following discussions with US envoy Amos Hochstein. Mikati stated in an interview with Lebanese media outlet, Al Jadeed, that efforts are underway to secure a ceasefire and that Hochstein's upcoming visit to the region is a positive sign.
Amos Hochstein, along with White House official Brett McGurk, is scheduled to be in Israel on Thursday for talks concerning Lebanon, Gaza, Iran, hostages, and other regional issues. Additionally, CIA Director Bill Burns is expected to visit Cairo for separate discussions.
Both Israel and the White House have dismissed reports of a ceasefire draft proposal circulating in Israeli media. The Israeli prime minister's office clarified that the reported drafts do not reflect the current state of negotiations. Similarly, the White House's National Security Council spokesperson emphasized that the drafts shared online are not indicative of the ongoing ceasefire discussions.
