Security forces in Lebanon have taken into custody the brother of the individual who carried out an armed assault at the US embassy in Lebanon. The State Security Directorate, in conjunction with the Directorate of the Army Intelligence, conducted a rapid operation in Majdal Anjar to apprehend the shooter's sibling.
Lebanon's National News Agency reported that the detainee is currently being interrogated following his arrest in Majdal Anjar, a town situated in eastern Lebanon near the Syrian border.
The gunman initiated the attack in Awkar, northeast of Beirut, on Wednesday morning. According to a Lebanese security source, the assailant appeared to be acting alone and is presently undergoing surgery at a local hospital.
