Lebanon’s army has refuted claims suggesting that it had withdrawn from southern border positions by several kilometers in response to Israel’s recent ground incursion into the country. The Army Command clarified that such reports were inaccurate and that the military units deployed in the south are merely repositioning certain forward observation points within their designated areas of responsibility.
The army emphasized that it continues to maintain coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon despite these movements. The news agency, however, noted its inability to independently verify the Lebanese army’s specific actions along the border.
Prior to Israel’s incursion, a Lebanese security source had indicated that the army had evacuated observation posts at the southern border and relocated to barracks in border villages. This development comes amidst heightened tensions in the region, with both Lebanon and Israel closely monitoring the situation along their shared border.
