The congressional map Texas lawmakers redrew in 2025 are at the center of a legal battle but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Dec. 4 that new districts could be used in the 2026 elections. That was a significant victory for Republicans, both in Texas and nationally, who pursued the mid-decade redistricting at President Donald Trump’s urging.
Republicans hope the map will give the GOP 30 of Texas’ 38 congressional seats, up from the current 25, and help safeguard a slim majority in the U.S. House.
